hat kind of foundation should you choose? It depends on several factors that can change over time and even with the seasons. Read the type descriptions below to see where your current foundation needs fit best.

Type A  è  Light Coverage Needed or Preferred

Your skin is pretty even toned with very little in the way of freckles, sun spots, blemishes, broken capillaries, or blotchiness. You are either blessed with good genes, are pretty young (under 25), or have taken very good care of your skin. You don’t need a product that will cover imperfections. You just want to even out your skin tone and add some SPF protection at the same time so you can keep your skin looking as good as it does now….because you know that even ‘incidental’ exposure to the sun can wreak havoc over time and you like the idea that you will get sun protection without having to apply it separately. Or lastly, you are a mature woman who hates the idea of looking “made up”. You like your “freckles” and prefer to look almost natural. Here are the best choices for you:

Mineral Sheer Tint SPF20 (which has replaced Perfect Protection Moisture Tint)

A lotion-weight product for all skin types. It comes in a white tube with a pump dispenser under a clear cap. Light, unbreakable, easy to carry with you in your purse. Apply in an all-over fashion as you would a moisturizer. There you have it. Light coverage – moisture – and SPF 20 sun protection all-in-one.

Loose or Pressed Mineral Powder Foundations SPF8 to SPF26

For all but very dry skins. Comes in shaker jars, pressed powder compacts or a super convenient dispenser brush.  Mineral powder is a “buildable” product. The more you add, the more coverage you can get. All our mineral makeup has sun protection.  The pharmaceutical grade is safe on super sensitive skin and can be used right after skin treatments. If you haven’t tried mineral makeup, we recommend that you do. There may be a slight learning curve for women who have never used anything but liquid foundations, but the incredibly natural looking results are worth it. Choose from:

o        SPF15 HydraRadiance Age Defying Mineral Foundation SPF15 (loose) 5.7 grams

o        SPF26 Loose Mineral Dispensing Brush (pharmaceutical grade)  7  grams

o        SPF26  Loose Mineral Shaker Jar (pharmaceutical grade) 5 grams

o        SPF8   Pressed Mineral Foundation Compact with applicator sponge (apply lightly)

Minimal Makeup SPF10  That’s mini-mal not min-er-al

For all skin types, this is a light and sheer version of traditional liquid foundation that is totally oil free. Slim glass bottle.

Type B  è  Medium Coverage Needed or Preferred

You’re a fairly low maintenance gal and don’t want to spend a lot of time with makeup application but you do have some skin imperfections or unevenness. You want something that will minimize blotchiness but that won’t be so opaque that you feel like you’re wearing a mask. You may also be over 40. You have life’s little time markers (broken capillaries, sun spots, etc.) but you also have some fine wrinkles that you don’t want to be exaggerated by a makeup that might settle into them.

Light Diffusing Makeup

Formulated for over 40 women, this liquid makeup has light reflecting properties that minimize the appearance of fine lines while providing coverage for minor imperfections. Glass bottle container. A strong favorite of our 40+ customers who are dedicated to liquid makeup formulas. We recommend application with a high quality wedge makeup sponge available in packs of 8 reusable sponges (compare these to the crumbly overly porous sponges sold in bags at discount stores).

Super Activ Liquid Makeup

The classic liquid makeup with medium coverage. Water based, hypoallergenic. For all skin types. We recommend application with a high quality wedge makeup sponge available in packs of 8 reusable sponges (compare these to the crumbly overly porous sponges sold in bags at discount stores).

Mineral Powder Foundations SPF8 to SPF26

The same products recommended for TYPE A will work well for TYPE B when applied a bit heavier for more coverage.

o        SPF15 HydraRadiance Age Defying Mineral Foundation SPF15 (loose) 5.7 grams

o        SPF26 Loose Mineral Dispensing Brush (pharmaceutical grade)  7  grams

o        SPF26  Loose Mineral Shaker Jar (pharmaceutical grade) 5 grams

o        SPF8   Pressed Mineral Foundation Compact with sponge applicator

Type C  è  Good Coverage Needed or Preferred

You like a flawless looking skin…and yours just isn’t. Lighter makeup doesn’t give you enough coverage to cover what you want to cover (rosacia, blemishes, hyper-pigmentation) OR you’re someone who tends to use your makeup like a concealer. You don’t put it all over. You only apply it as a spot coverage in places where you need it like under your eyes and on that pesky blemish or two. These formulas will give you the most coverage.

Dual Activ Powder Foundation (a wet/dry formula)

This pressed powder comes in a compact with a sponge applicator. When the sponge is dampened before application you will get excellent coverage that will appear a bit dry or streaky for the first 10 seconds but then the powder will marry with the oils in your skin and those affects disappear. The best part is that if you use it dry, you can produce a lighter coverage when needed.

SPF8 Foundation Stick

This cream stick comes in a swivel-up stick that is great for carrying with you. Touch your finger to the product and you have a quick and easy concealer with great coverage.  Dab and blend directly from the stick to your face for a buildable foundation coverage. We recommend blending with our high quality wedge sponge but your fingertips work well also….if you prefer and don’t mind getting it on your fingers.  Not the best choice for very oily skin.
